King William had signed orders in England, and (The Secretary of State for Scotland) Sir John Dalrymple "The Master of Stair and Lord Advocate" was most anxious that they should be carried out swiflty and ruthlessly in Scotland ... By refusing to sign "The Oath of Allegiance to King William" by January 1st 1692, the orders stipulated, that all members of the Clan MacDonald shall be put to death, every man woman and child under the age of seventy must be slaughtered! ...... He underlined these words in the orders, (signed and counter signed by King William of Orange). ..." LEAVE NONE ALIVE CALLED MACDONALD! " 12th February 1692 (The Secretary of State for Scotland) Sir John Dalrymple wrote; ...." Destroy entirely the country of Lochaber, Lochiels lands, Keppochs, Glengarries and Glencoe.".... he then added; ....
