"The Massacre of Glencoe" - GlasgowAussie
King William had signed orders in England, and (The Secretary of State for Scotland) Sir John Dalrymple "The Master of Stair and Lord Advocate" was most anxious that they should be carried out swiflty and ruthlessly in Scotland ...
By refusing to sign "The Oath of Allegiance to King William" by January 1st 1692, the orders stipulated, that all members of the Clan MacDonald shall be put to death, every man woman and child under the age of seventy must be slaughtered! ......
He underlined these words in the orders, (signed and counter signed by King William of Orange). ..." LEAVE NONE ALIVE CALLED MACDONALD! "
12th February 1692 (The Secretary of State for Scotland) Sir John Dalrymple
wrote; ...." Destroy entirely the country of Lochaber,
Lochiels lands, Keppochs, Glengarries and Glencoe."....
he then added; .... " I hope that the soldiers will not trouble the (British) Government with prisoners! "....
For twelve consecutive days the MacDonalds had hosted the Campbell troops in the valley of Glencoe, the troops ate of the meals provided by their Scot's highland hosts, and spent their evenings drinking , gambling and trading stories with each other by the firelight in the warmth, comfort and friendship of the homes of the MacDonald Clansmen.
At 5.00am on the morning of February 13th 1692, whilst a blizzard was raging in the valley of Glencoe, and Alasdair MacDonald and his wife lay sleeping warmly in their bed, ............ a party of their guests ... (the Campbell troops) knocked on their door. Cheerfully claiming that they were about to take their leave of Glencoe, and that they wished to express their gratitude and thanks to their MacDonald hosts, for the kindness, generosity and hospitality that they had received! .....................
When Alasdair opened the door to bid them farewell, both he and his wife were cowardly and cruelly struck down and murdered on the spot! ... according to (The Secretary of State for Scotland's) plan! ...
The Infamous 'Massacre of Glencoe' ...
...... "MURDER UNDER TRUST!"...... had began!
