The joining of the Transcontinental Railroad

At Promontory Summit, in Utah, the Union Pacific Railroad and the Central Pacific Railroad met for the first time on May 10, 1869, forming the Transcontinental Railroad. This video is a description of a re-enactment of the meeting of trains from the two railroads at the point where the tracks finally joined.
