The Funeral of O'Donovan Rossa

Jeremiah O'Donovan Rossa was an important figure in Irish Republicanism. He was jailed by the British for planning a Fenian Rising. He was later released under the Fenian Amnesty and settled in New York where he planned the first bombing campaign (Dynamite Campaign) in England by Irish Republicans. He died in a hospital on Staten Island, New York in 1915. When he died Tom Carke asked for his body to be returned home for burial. Michael Collins arranged for this funeral to be filmed. His funeral is where Padraig Pearse gave his famous graveside oration ending with the line "Ireland unfree shall never be at peace" Padraig Pearse can be seen in this video at 2:32
