Hol Vagytok Székelyek with subtitles. I made this video to be enjoyed, nothing more. The background history of it is this: Hungarians, Germans, Jews and Rumanians lived side-by-side for 600 years, relatively peacefully(well, except for the Jews who were tormented throughout Europe). They didn't care who ruled the land, and didn't oppress or discriminate against one another. Then came Romantic Nationalism, which engulfed Europe in national awareness. The Magyars of Hungary, realising that they barely represented a majority in the Kingdom of Hungary (56%) began an assimilation of its various ethnic peoples. The 'Magyarization' existed for 3 decades, before the Treaty of Trianon destroyed Hungary and caused it to lose 1/3-1/2 of its Hungarian/Magyar population. It has now been nearly 90 years that Rumanianization has been going on in Transylvania, and that is what this song is basically about.
