Larry Osburn 1933 - 2009

Lawrence Larry C. Osburn, age 76, of Onsted, MI died July 9, 2009 at Arbor Hospice Residence, Ann Arbor. He was born Jan. 3, 1933, in Raisin Township, Mich., the son of Garland and Geraldine (Orr) Osburn. On October 24, 1959, he married Paula Schober in Ridgeway, Mich., and she survives. Mr. Osburn was a resident of the Tecumseh, Macon, and Onsted areas since birth. He was a graduate of Tecumseh High School. Larry was a veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Corps, serving at NATO Allied Forces Southern Headquarters, Naples, Italy, from 1953-1955. He was a member of the American Legion. Larry had worked at Tecumseh Products and Ford Motor Company in Saline and Rawsonville, but his true calling was farming, which he did for over 50 years. Larry enjoyed gardening and was a classic car lover. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. In addition to his wife, Paula, Larry is survived by three sons, Dr. Scot (Tammy) Osburn of Torrance, Calif., Chris (Jen) Osburn of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Dr. Jon (Tho) Osburn of Bridgman, Mich.; six grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Burnor of Tecumseh, Alice (Leon) Lewis of Britton and Joyce (Gerald) Gentry of Coldwater, Mich.; and three brothers, William of Macon, Robert (Dorothy) of Tipton and Joseph (Gloria) of Manitou Beach. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Elizabeth Manchester Gould, and two brothers, David and Bruce. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2009, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
