Italian Empire at War

The Italians are not often well remembered in World War II, however, at the peak of their success the Italian Empire included Ethiopia, Djibouti, British Somaliland, Tunisia, Greece, Albania, Montenegro, the Dalmatian coast, the French border areas, Monaco and their pre-war territories of Libya, Italian Somaliland and a number of islands off the Greek and Turkish coasts. However, the Italians were not nearly equipped enough to fight a world war and lacked the industrial capacity for a long fight. In the end, Mussolini's dream of a New Roman Empire that would dominate the Mediterranean fared no better than he did himself.
