UK forces hand over Shatt-Al-Arab Hotel to Iraqi Army

8 Apr 07: In another step towards delivering a stable and secure environment in Basra City, UK troops have handed over control of the Shatt-Al-Arab Hotel to the 10th Division Iraqi Army on Sunday 8 April 2007. The site, which most recently was occupied by the 600-strong 1st Battalion Staffordshire Regiment Battlegroup, was the main base from which operations across the northern half of Basra City were mounted.
