Capulin Volcano National Monument - Capulin, New Mexico

Video from day 7 of my 2008 vacation. This was taken near Capulin Volcano National Monument outside of Capulin, New Mexico. Saying it was windy on this day would be an understatement; the nearby Raton station was recording winds of up to 60 mph (97 kmh) at the time. A part of the Capulin Volcano National Monument, Capulin Volcano is an example of an extinct cinder cone volcano that is part of the Raton-Clayton Volcanic Field. A paved road spirals around the volcano and visitors can drive up to a parking lot at the rim. Hiking trails circle the rim as well as lead down into the mouth of the volcano.
