Hawaiian hawksbill/green turtle cross -Introducing Wai? --"H

TURTLE TRAX: www.turtles.org Wai? is Hawaiian for "Who?". Wai/'s name is written complete with a question mark. That's because Wai? is a bundle of puzzles. Wai? is a cross --a hybrid between a Hawaiian green turtle and a hawksbill. Wai? is the only hawksbill/honu cross ever documented in the Hawaiian Islands. We first sighted Wai? in 2004. Unfortunately, this summer Wai? has developed a fibropapilloma tumour in the right eye. You can see a small white lump in the posterior corner of the eye when you watch this video. To read more about Wai? please see reports of our first summer's sighting in 2004 at: http://www.turtles.org/04week3.htm#kuamoo and also: http://www.turtles.org/04week9.htm and also for 2006 at: http://www.turtles.org/06week1.htm For more information on Wai? and the other sea turtles of Honokowai, West Maui, visit TURTLE TRAX at: www.turtles.org
