8: What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is incredibly effective at reducing pain and improving function. It is a system of manual medicine developed in the US, 125 years ago by Dr Andrew Taylor Still. The overall health of our bodies is significantly effected by our musculo-skeletal system (think muscles, bones, joints, nerves). Osteopaths assess, diagnose and treat strains in the system to improve health and reduce pain and debility. Mostly we treat people in pain, using a variety of techniques to mobilize your joints, realign your bones and release muscular tension, imbalance and strain. When we treat this way our results are usually really good and sometimes spectacular.
