YPN Welcomes Garret FitzGerald

About this Event 13 Jul 2009 IIEA Young Professionals Network Hosts Dr. Garret FitzGerald About the speech: In the last event before the summer break, the IIEA Young Professionals Network invites you to a discussion with Dr. Garret FitzGerald on the Lisbon Treaty. This event will take place on Monday July 13, 2009 at 6.30 p.m. at The Institute of International & European Affairs, 8 North Great Georges St, Dublin 1. It will be followed by a drinks reception. The Young Professionals Network events cover a broad range of European and international issues, and take place once a month in an informal after-work environment. The YPN provides members with an opportunity to meet over a glass of wine and to engage with an inspirational guest speaker. About the speaker: Elected to Seanad Éireann in 1965 and to Dáil Éireann in 1969, Dr. FitzGerald was the seventh Taoiseach of the Republic of Ireland, serving two terms in office. In the mid-1970s, Dr. FitzGerald served as Minister for Foreign Affairs in the government of Liam Cosgrave, forging a strong relationship between Ireland and Europe in the early days of the countrys EEC membership.
