The Quasi War

My APUS Project for quarter 1: The Quasi War In full, the Quasi-War between France and America lasted from 1798-1800; the peace treaty signed on September 30th of 1800. This undeclared war bears a striking significance to a soap opera, which made it quite interesting to research (especially when I pictured France and England declaring their love for America, wedding rings being exchanged between France and America (quite like the 1778 Treaty of Alliance between the two), USA cheating on France with England (Jay's treaty being signed with England), and France and the USA eventually breaking up, USA shouting something to the tune of "You aren't the same after the revolution! You've changed! You aren't the France I fell in love with!"). Sometimes I question my overactive imagination.... Part 1: Prelude lyrics We used to be The best of friends Inseparable Till the very end But France my dear (France my dear) Youve caused some fear (caused some fear) With your monarchs execution But still congratz about your revolution! Forget the treaty Of our good pal Jay We want peace In your little fray With the UK (the UK) Were O.K. (were O.K.) Just letting you know that were not going to pay Those debts were to Marie and Lou! See our point of view? Well I guess not! How very rude! To seize our ships And reject our dude! Just cause we lost Trade, ships, insurance stability, and are exhaust(ed) *lame* Doesnt mean that you have beat us in the end! Dont think that we were not aware Of the XYZ Affair! Just saying that you should prepare For our Navy *END* The phrase "those debts were to Marie and Lou" concerns America's decision not to continue paying their debts to the French after the French Revolution, for the American government felt as if they owed money toward the monarchy that was prevously overthrown, not the newly instated French 'governmnet'. The phrase "(How very rude to) reject our dude!" concerns France's refusal to recieve the USA Foregin Minister in 1796. Part 2: The Battle and Aftermath Lyrics Twenty-five ships Patrolling the coast From the north to every military post Captain Truxton Youre my inspiration! Takin out Linsurgence With the Constellation! Set em free To the sea! 11 via the Enterprise. Croyabe captured! Did our share! Thank you, Delaware! Battles over! Our war is done, To the convention Sorry, Napoleon! *Done* In the previous set of lyrics, L'Insurgence and Croyabe are French warships who battled with American vessels, a few of which being The Constellation, The Delaware, and the USS Enterprise (the few listed in the lyrics). A few of the other US ships included in the Quasi War were the USS Constitution and USS Realization. The Quazi Wars gave birth the the American naval force, and for that, I am greatful.
