It tells the story of a scientist with a stalled career who takes a bribe from a right wing organization to fly out to Kentucky and develop a 'scientific' argument in favor of creationism. Max (the scientist) flies out to Kentucky to begin work for the right wing organization. As Max's friends in the scientific community desert him, he explains why he's made the choices he's made to Darren, a boy in Kentucky who he's just met.
