Councilwoman Rosie Mendez on Intro #684 "Right to Counsel for Senior Citizens" (Part 3 of 3)

Sallie Elkordy interviews Rosie Mendez on "Right to Counsel for Senior Citizens" (Intro #684). This is legislation for senior citizens on the verge of losing their homes: houses, apartments (rentals), coops, condos. Much the same as anyone who is accused of a crime, is provided with a lawyer, so now does Councilwoman Mendez propose that the same be provided to seniors under the threat of eviction. Senior Citizens only? Well, it's a start!!! Call Speaker Christine Quinn and tell that you want this Intro #684 to come to a vote. Call your Council member to see if she supported it and if so ask her to tell you when it will come to a vote. If your Councilmember did not support this legislation, after listening to this program inform her of the many reasons she should. This bill has had much support thus far and NYC Council Speaker Quinn should bring Intro #684 to a vote. Call Christine Quinn and leave that message. Inform her that it always costs less to do the right thing. Listen to interview.
