Alice Faye & Betty Grable - "The Sheik of Araby"

Long before Hugh Hefner conceived his rabbit hutch, Billy Gilbert ruled the roost as "The Sheik of Araby". Girls galore are draped across the stage in this fanciful excerpt from the great 1940 Fox musical, "Tin Pan Alley". Princess Vanessa Ammon opens with an exotic dance, followed by something more prosaic: the two dancing brothers, Fayard & Harold Nicholas. Everyone knows that eunuchs in ol' Araby tap danced to brassy swing music. You simply can't get more historically authentic than this! Dance staged by Seymour Felix; music by Ted Snyder; lyrics by Harry B. Smith and Francis Wheeler.
