Dr. DeBakey is a renowned international medical statesman, innovator and educator. He is best known for his innovations in treating cardiovascular disease. He has received numerous honors for his remarkable surgical career including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Presidential Medal of Science and the Lasker Award.
