Sony HDR-TG3E won't work properly with non-Sony Memory Sticks.

A very intrusive warning and beeping accompanies almost any action when you use a non-Sony `pro `duo memory stick "This memory Stick may not be able to record or play images correctly). In this video I use an unbranded 8GB Pro Duo (5.05:3.74MB/sec read:write), but the error also occurs with my 2GB SanDisk but not on the bundled 4GB Pro Duo (5.04:4.76MB/sec read:write), nor a Sony M2 (which manages only 4.74:1.44MB/sec read:write). Sony customer support are claiming the warning occurs when the stick has not the required format or speed, but all cards were reformatted and the warning appears not to be related to speed. I believe that they are deliberately blocking non-MagicGate cards, but are not declaring that openly to customers who have bought the camera which just confuses the issue. I would really like the ability to turn off the warning or at least have only a single warning for each card.
