Music4autobahns Interview: Error Type 11

While NYC post-hardcore peers such as Stillsuit and Quicksand have come and gone, Error Type 11 keep going strong. Why, you ask? Simple. It is because they believe in themselves and their music. It is hard to put a finger on Error Type 11. They keep their independence by not sticking with one record company. Their music has elements of hardcore, punk and radio friendly rock mixed into one. What strikes through it all is the band’s enormous confidence in what they are doing. Sometimes their confidence can came off as cocky or arrogant. Just ask their front man Artie what certain crowds think of his rock star attitude. But it is all a part of the Error Type 11 experience. They might be playing mainstream “rock” music but they are a great example of what an independent band should be. The one thing that I can see holding Error Type 11 back is their affiliation with the hardcore scene. When the band is made up of former members of Mind Over Matter, Bad Trip and Clockwise it is hard to shake off the hardcore tag. A lot of generic hardcore fans have tunnel vision and do not accept a musician’s evolution very easily. Yet if there were a band to beak that tag it would be Error Type 11. Artie and Phil talk to Music4autobahns about what Error Type 11 is all about, the arrogance, the music and why they do it. For fun, count how many times Artie uses the F**k word. I lost count after 21.
