Little Lord Fauntleroy

The North Lakeside Players present Little Lord Fauntleroy founded on the story of the same name by Frances Hodgson Burnett at 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays, March 14, 15, 21, 22 28, April 4 and 5, and at 7pm on Saturdays, March 14, 21 and April 4 at the North Lakeside Cultural Center, 6219 N. Little Lord Fauntleroy is the first children's novel written by EnglishAmerican playwright and author Frances Hodgson Burnett. It was originally published as a serial in the St. Nicholas Magazine between November 1885 and October 1886, then as a book by Scribner's in 1886. The accompanying illustrations by Reginald Birch from these publications set fashion trends. Little Lord Fauntleroy also set a precedent in copyright law when in 1888 its author won a lawsuit over the rights to theatrical adaptations of the work. Ms. Burnett adapted her own theatrical version of her story which appeared on Broadway in 1889. Other books by Burnett include A Little Princess and The Secret Garden. THE STORY: Fortunes change dramatically for little Cedric Errol, a poor American boy living in 1880s New York, when he unexpectedly inherits a British fortune. He and his mother, known as "Dearest," are sent to England to live with his cold and unsentimental grandfather, the Earl of Dorincourt, who oversees Cedric's newfound wealth. Cedric must conquer the Earl's heart and fight off an unexpected claimant to his new fortune in order to take his rightful place as Lord Fauntleroy. Directed by Frank Farrell Little Lord Fauntleroy features Amy Caldwell as Mrs. Errol (Dearest), Teena Cathey as Jo, Paul Chakrin as Mr. Havisham, Joseph M. Ciresi as Dick, Johnny Garcia as Mr. Hobbs, Meg Grunewald as Mrs. Higgens, Kevin Meece as Wilkins, Alison Minniear as Minna, Michael Neumann as Cedric Errol, Margaret Pretkelis as Jane, Sheana Toby as Mary and Edwin Unger as Earl of Dorincourt, with costumes designed by Andrea Pakieser.
