The Federal Government are reviewing all of the OH&S laws in each state and want to make them consistent across the nation. The Rudd Government has made a commitment before the 2007 election that Labor would uphold existing safety standards. Business is seeking consistent OH&S laws across the country. This should not lead to second rate safety laws and lower safety standards. Our safety standards are at risk: we stand to lose essential inspection and enforcement powers.
