Artillery Demo at Palo Alto Battlefield NHP

Reenactors firing off a blank from a 6lber cannon at Palo Alto Battlefield National Historic Site as part of the commemoration of the 163rd Anniversary of the battle. The artillerymen here belong to Major Samuel Ringgold's "Flying Artillery" which is credited as one of the most decisive factors in winning the battle for the Americans. "Flying Artillery" was a new tactic developed by Maj. Ringgold where artillery crews could move and deploy quickly wherever they were needed on the battlefield, as opposed to firing from a fixed position. Palo Alto Battlefield is totally free, and is the ONLY national park that focuses on the US-Mexican War. I encourage all of you to visit (especially those who live in the Rio Grande Valley). http://www.nps.gov/paal/ **NOTE: This event was on Saturday May 9th 2009 when the actual battle took place on May 8th. Also there was nothing wrong with my camera. I took a snapshot while I was recording.
