Giovanni Paisiello - Il barbiere di Siviglia - "Scorsi gia molti paesi" (Pietro Spagnoli)

P.S. Do leave a comment on how you would compare the pieces and do leave a rating :)! Figaro doesn't truly have an aria similar to "Largo al factotum della citta". His first complete aria is faithful to the text of Beaumarchais and deals with his adventures after leaving the employment of the Count and before he became the barber of Seville. The piece starts with a motif already hinted in the overture. Figaro, first beginning solemnly and slowly, quickly starts to list his triumphs and torments in a particularly effective patter. After that, the piece goes at 2:25 into its' second section as Figaro explains that he has become a famous barber in Seville, obviously proud of himself. The melody is stated elegantly by oboes and strings. A most melodious piece, perfectly setting up the character of Figaro. Pietro Spagnoli, a seasoned Rossinian, is perfect as Paisiello's Figaro. Enjoy :)!
