B-17 Sex Slave Series, The Making of...Working Footage 2

i^3 counter-broadcast: http://i3hypermedia.com B-17: A Mini-Epic, Working Footage 2..."Cheney Deposed" Sarah: The earlier footage is from sometime last February. It was the first time Arturo came over to see the set and do some test shooting in it. (Back before it had started the process of germination though dilapidation, which was the most important ingredient) This was really the very beginning of our "working" together, on our feet. Arturo: As we searched for set locations, Sarah said she really wanted to build it in her bedroom so that she could live "in character" the days surrounding any shooting (method acting stuff). Sarah: I was so excited to build a set that I could live w/on. It felt like a really important thing to do. It happened slowly at first - I had to move my whole "bedroom" to this even smaller, porch-like room, paint the floor, cover the window... Arturo: I was blown away when I first saw what she was doing to the room; it hit me that our simple little project had exploded to epic proportions. Her art direction was fantastic, our affinity so audacious, the experimental possibilities limitless, but that cramped 8.5' X 13.5' room was gonna be a pernicious bitch to shoot anything in, especially the overhead views, let alone the rest of the movie. Started testing right then...shot angles, props, strobes, bubble machines, wigs.... Sarah: I LOVE wigs! I had just bought that wig and was leaning towards using it instead of the blonde one (I know!). I didn't make a final decision till the week that we started shooting. Gosh- Watching this, it seems like we were just messing around, but it was all important groundwork for new theories we were trying out for the first time. Arturo: We were working out "method camera," a technique I've been developing. The idea is to use the camera as an active participant in the action so that it becomes a character in the scene. Wanted to challenge the dictum that an invisible third person, fly on the wall type camera style was the only way to maintain the suspension of disbelief, but instead, use a first person POV to get deeper immersion. Since it was just Sarah and I working this out with no crew, a mostly non-verbal, somewhat frenetic, shorthand language naturally developed between us.... Sarah: I don't see how Arturo could ever understand a word I said, though. Arturo: Say whaaa? Just kidding...but like the series, hearing what is underneath is key. Sarah: P.S. Look at where the slave labor station used to be! I had to move it to make sure it's reveal would be as dramatic as possible Also, whatever happened to those "balloon sausages"? Arturo: BTW, shooting that Cheney sequence left me pretty bruised up...some consequences of "method camera" work.
