Daffodil Dreaming

On St. Patrick's Day 2009 I had no shamrock to video, so early in the morning, I wandered lonely as a cloud through the woodland area of our Garden Valley, when all at at once I spied a host of Golden Daffodils. I just could not resist capturing the delightful daffodils, gently lit by dappled sunlight, that have naturalised themselves over many years. I was amazed to find that virtually every clump of these daffodils had flowers with slightly different shape and colour of perianth (six floral leaves) but all had the classical pure yellow corona (trumpet). These daffodils in our garden are not the huge gaudy daffs that you see in formal beds in most modern gardens, they are about half the size and so delicate that I find them absolutely delightful. I picked just a very small bunch yesterday and now have them in a vase by my computer monitor as I upload this video and I do so wish I could share their subtle sweet scent with you too. All too soon these daffodils will fade away, but thankfully when I need a tranquil reminder of these few wonderful Spring Days in March 2009, I can revisit them here, without waiting for a whole year to savour their subtle beauty again. I really scoured the YouTube music collection to select just the right piece for this video and came up with this fine performance of Schumann's Opus 15, the world famous Traumerei (Dreaming).
