3D neural reconstruction

3D reconstructed pyramidal cell with detailed contours of dendritic trees (both basal and apical dendrites) and spines. This was done using Golgi-impregnation method (125-um thick section), followed by semi-automated tracing software. The video shows actual representation of the elements of pyramidal cells, instead of animated / cartoon-like cells. There are also "quantitative" data, such as total vs. segment length (um), frequency of bifurcations of the dendritic trees, spine counts, density, and Sholl analysis (see more detail at http://www.neurodigitech.com/services/220102%20(NDT501).html). This method provides a very powerful "3D" geometric profile of the neurons in our brain.
