滿清十三皇朝

The Thirteen Manchu Emperors (滿清十三皇朝) was the most eloborate and brilliant series ever made by ATV. I watched it when I was a young adolescent and it has a lasting impression on me. As far as I can remember it was probably the first costume series from Hong Kong, which used authentic armours of Manchu warriors. It set the example which was followed by other Qing costume series ever since. The series is divided into a number of seasons, each season for one or two emperors, each season consists 20 or so episodes. It started with Nurhaci, the founding father of the Late Jin state, who united the various nomad tribes in Manchuria and became a significant threat to Ming China. The conquest of China continued under his son Hung Taiji and was completed by Nurhaci's younger brother Dorgon who became the co-ruler next to the son of Hung Taiji.
