The World's Largest Book

In terms of words, the world's largest book is the Tipitaka or Buddhist Canon with tens of thousands of suttas or discourses. In this case it is also large because much of the Tipitaka has been carved into 729 huge marble tablets each housed in its own Pagoda. This large and beautiful work was done in the mid 19th century under King Mindon following a Buddhist Council to ensure that all the Buddha's words were recorded accurately. Unfortunately the British forces looted much of the treasures but the words remain.
