Jason Moran & The Bandwagon

Masterful jazz pianist-composer Jason Moran returns with a theatrical, multimedia jazz suite inspired by the work of conceptual artist Adrian Piper. Moran has transformed Piper's unique combination of the personal, political, and theatrical into a highly-charged, eveninglength suite that speaks eloquently to his own life as a jazz artist and black man. Featuring Moran and his trio mates in The Bandwagon—bassist Tarus Mateen and drummer Nasheet Watts—plus vocalist Alicia Hall Moran and guitar great Marvin Sewell, Moran's cross-generational musical dialog with Piper asks probing questions about self-identity and artistic expression.
