Pola NEGRI: Double Anniversary !

Pola Negri was born Jan. 3 1897 in Lipno, Poland and died Aug 1. 1987 in San Antonio, Texas. It is 110 years from her birth and 20 years from her death. Those two facts are being celebrated in the country of her birth in two special happenings: a huge, „wandering exhibition", organised by Museum of Cinematography in Łódź (exhibition was with due ceremony already opened on Aug.1 this year in the first place of the route -- Museum of Town Sosnowiec /Negri in Sosnowiec got married for the first time - Nov.1919/); will be shown in a few principal cities of Poland and Germany to return to its final point of presentation which will be Warsaw, in January 2008. The second event is a sort of a festival of Pola Negri films to be organised in the first week of October 2007 in the Centre of Film Art in Katowice. I am happy to have collaborated and participated in organisation of both events. Pola sings here a romance-song in Russian, language with which she had had direct contact for 20 years since birth; she was raised in the part of Poland that at that time was annexed by Russia.
