Ate Ao Fim Do Mundo - Short film based on the legend of Pedro the Just and Ines de Castro

One of the most famous events in Portuguese history, the love story of Ines de Castro and Pedro the Just is a tragic and violent one. Since Ines was of Spanish noble birth and the Portuguese kingdom had uptained a fragile independence from the Spaniards, Pedro's and hers affair was a dangerous one, especially after she had given birth to two sons. Seeing no other solution, Afonso, Pedro's father, ordered the woman to be murdered. The film is very much a shortened version of what happened and the narration is based on the description of the episode in the Portuguese epic poem "Os Lusiadas" written during the rennaisance.
