wave clouds
wave clouds Clouds occurring in an airstream characterized by wave motion, usually after passing over a mountain barrier. Lenticular (lens-shaped) clouds and cloudlets appearing stationary in the crests of the waves are a characteristic sight in climates experienced on the lee side of mountain barriers, e.g. in eastern Scotland and Sweden.
