water table the top zone of soil and rock in which all voids are saturated with water. The level of the water table varies with topography and climate.

water table In geology, level below which the ground is saturated. The height of the water table gradually changes, moving up or down depending on the recent rainfall. Water located below the water table is called groundwater.
