telencephalon
telencephalon The anterior region of the brain, part of the prosencephalon, which includes both the olfactory lobes and cerebrum. In plesiomorphic tetrapods, the telencephalon constitutes a small portion of the total brain mass, while in more developed tetrapods the telencephalon becomes increasingly large with the development of the neopallium within the highly corticized cerebral hemispheres.
