star dune
star dune A complex aeolian dune form characterized by a series of slip faces radiating about a central point, producing a rough star shape. Such dunes are the product of highly variable wind directions and thus have a highly variable palaeocurrent pattern preserved in the dune crossbedding (see CROSS-LAMINATION).
