snapdragon a game (typically played at Christmas) which consisted of snatching raisins out of a bowl or dish of burning brandy and eating them while still alight. The term is recorded from the early 18th century.

snapdragon Any of several species of perennial plants of the genus Antirrhinum, with sac-like, two-lipped, purple, red, yellow or white flowers. The common snapdragon (A. majus) is a popular garden plant. Height: 15–91cm (0.5–3ft). Family Scrophulariaceae.
