seizing
seizing, the cord or twine by which ropes are seized to one another. It is also the name given to the finished product when the two parts have been seized together. There are many varieties of seizing according to the method of binding and the function to be served. There is a flat or round seizing, a racking seizing (see rack, to), a throat seizing, etc. See also clap on, to.
