riches
riches More than the other gospels, Luke emphasizes Jesus' compassion for the poor (4: 18) and a certain suspicion of wealth (12: 13–14; 16–21). For rich men there is little hope of entering the Kingdom (16: 19–31; 18: 18–27). It is impossible to serve God and Mammon (16: 13), though this is qualified by the recognition that the disciples are dependent on the wealth of others (8: 1–3).
