response time
response time The time difference between the end of a single interaction with a computer and when the results of the interaction are returned to the screen. There are a number of factors which determine response time in a network: these include LATENCY, the loading on the network on which the computer is situated, the BANDWIDTH of connections, and the nature of the task to be carried out by the computer.

response time Usually the elapsed time between an action initiated by a computer-system user (or by the occurrence of some external event) and the receipt of some form of response or feedback from the system.
