out·crop / ˈoutˌkräp/ • n. a rock formation that is visible on the surface: dramatic limestone outcrops. ∎ fig. a noticeable manifestation or occurrence. • v. (-cropped, -crop·ping) [intr.] [often as n.] (outcropping) appear as an outcrop: jumbled outcroppings of bedrock.
