isotropy
isotropy A characteristic of a substance or body in which physical properties are the same in all directions, such as the cosmic microwave background and the very large-scale distribution of matter throughout the Universe. An object such as a star that emits radiation equally in all directions is known as an isotropic radiator. An ideal antenna that is equally sensitive in all directions is known as an isotropic antenna. See also Anisotropy.
