hyperlink
hyperlink An area in a HYPERMEDIA document which normally points to either another part of the document or to another, separate, document. Navigation between hypermedia documents is normally achieved by clicking a hyperlink with a mouse. Hyperlinks can also point to other entities: for example, an FTP LINK points to a site where file transfers can be achieved using the FILE TRANSFER PROTOCOL. Clicking on this type of link takes the user to the site.
