horn of plenty

horn of plenty The common name for the edible fruit bodies of the fungus Craterellus cornucopioides. The cap is funnelshaped with a wavy edge; the inside of the funnel is black to brownish-black, while the outer surface is dark grey. The spore print is white. It is found in groups on the ground under deciduous trees (especially beech) in late summer and autumn.
