glaucous
glaucous Sea-green or bluish-green in colour, or having a waxy, bluish-green bloom (e.g. as on a plum or the colour of the carpet formed on the surface of the open sea by swarms of sea ‘lizards’, Glaucus eucharis, members of the Nudibranchia). The original Greek word meant ‘bright, sparkling, greyish’, like the eyes of Pallas Athene.
