fringes
fringes Moses is commanded to instruct the Israelites to make fringes (NRSV; ‘tassels’ REB, NJB, Num. 15: 37) on the corners of garments, as a reminder of the Ten Commandments. Jesus is said to have criticized Pharisees for making their fringes over-conspicuous (Matt. 23: 5), but he himself certainly wore them (Matt. 9: 20; 14: 36).
