follow
follow The invitation to become ' disciples was given in the imperative ‘Follow me!’ which demanded total obedience. For Peter, Andrew, James, and John it involved the breakup of the family business and loss of capital inheritance. To follow Jesus would be to share his earthly circumstances (Matt. 8: 19) and suffering (Mark 8: 34). Not surprisingly, Peter was dismayed (Mark 8: 32, followed by 34).
