fall
fall A meteorite that has actually been seen to fall and has been recovered at the place of impact. In many cases the meteorite is recovered immediately or very soon after falling, and is therefore relatively free of terrestrial contamination and weathering. Sometimes, however, the meteorite is not recovered until months or years after its observed fall. Only about 4 % of known meteorites were seen to fall. See also Find.
