environmental variance
environmental variance The portion of phenotypic variance that is due to differences in the environments to which the individuals in a population have been exposed. The total amount of variance observed among individuals in a population will be made up by an environmental component, determined by environmental variation, and a genetic component (see genetic variance), determined by the variation that is inherited.

environmental variance The portion of phenotypic variance that is due to differences in the environments to which the individuals in a population have been exposed. The total amount of variance (see MEAN SQUARE) observed among individuals in a population will be made up by an environmental component, determined by environmental variation, and a genetic component, determined by the variation that is inherited.
