cuddy
cuddy, originally a cabin in the after part of a sailing ship for the captain and his passengers, which was positioned under the poop deck. The term is also sometimes used to denote a small cabin on board a boat, or yacht, or very occasionally a small cookhouse on board, though caboose was a more usual word for this. In larger ships the cuddy was the compartment where the officers had their meals.
