crown glass
crown glass A basic variety of optical glass, containing a high percentage of potassium and calcium. It has a refractive index of about 1.5, and on average has a lower dispersion of light than the other main basic optical glass, flint glass. Crown glass has a lower density than flint glass but is more durable.
