cro·chet / krōˈshā/ • n. a handicraft in which yarn is made up into a patterned fabric by looping yarn with a hooked needle: [as adj.] a crochet hook. ∎  fabric or items made in such a way: the bikini is tiny, three triangles of cotton crochet. • v. (-cheted / shād/ , -chet·ing / shāing/ ) [tr.] make (a garment or piece of fabric) in such a way: she had crocheted the shawl herself | [intr.] her mother had stopped crocheting.
